Before Your Session
There's nothing you need to do to get ready.
You don't have to be calm, spiritual, or prepared. You can arrive frazzled, skeptical, or straight from a bad day — that's still a perfect place to start from. Everything below just makes it easier to drop in once you're here.
First, lock in your spot
Your appointment isn't held until payment is sent — an e-transfer to magicmairaa@gmail.com, or PayPal to paypal.me/magickmaira. Once it's received you'll get a confirmation email with the address, arrival instructions, and a short disclaimer form. The full details live in the booking policy.
The day of
- Drink water through the day — you'll feel the session more in a hydrated body
- Eat something light an hour or two before. Not stuffed, not starving
- Go easy on caffeine, and skip alcohol beforehand
- If you can, leave yourself a soft landing afterwards — no back-to-back meetings, nothing that needs you sharp
What to wear
You stay fully clothed the whole time. Wear whatever you'd be comfortable lying still in for an hour — soft layers are ideal, since body temperature tends to drop as you relax. Socks are a good idea. Feel free to take off your watch, jewellery, or anything that digs in.
If you're coming in person
Sessions run out of my home in Toronto. The full address and arrival instructions come by email once your spot is confirmed, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Come a few minutes early if you can, so you're not walking in out of breath. If you're running behind, a quick heads-up is always appreciated — sessions end at the scheduled time either way, so an early text protects your hour.
If you're joining virtually
Reiki works just as well at a distance. There's nothing extra for you to do — you just need somewhere to rest undisturbed.
- A quiet, private space where you can lie down for the full session
- A stable connection
- Phone on Do Not Disturb, and a heads-up to anyone you live with
- A blanket, and a pillow under your knees if you like
- Headphones, if that helps you settle
Tell me beforehand if
Please let me know ahead of time if you are pregnant, have epilepsy, have a pacemaker, have had recent surgery, or are managing a serious medical or mental health condition, so we can make sure the session is right for you.
It also helps to know about any injuries, sore spots, or places on your body you'd rather I didn't work near. Nothing is too small to mention.
Bring an intention, if you have one
Some people arrive knowing exactly what they want to put down. Others have no idea, and that works just as well — the energy goes where it's needed whether or not you can name it.
If you'd like a starting point, ask yourself: what am I ready to stop carrying? Or simply, what do I need more of right now?
What you don't need
- To believe in Reiki. It doesn't require faith, and skepticism won't block it
- To know anything about energy work
- To talk the whole time, or explain your life story
- To lie perfectly still, stay awake, or do it right
You'll be settled and comfortable, and I'll work either with light touch or with my hands hovering just above you — your choice, and you can change your mind partway through. You can ask questions, adjust, or stop at any point.
If plans change
Life happens. With 48 hours' notice you can reschedule or take a full refund, your choice. Inside 48 hours a session is non-refundable, though it can be moved once for a small rebooking fee. Full policy here.
Still have a question?
Ask me. Nervous first-timers are some of my favourite people to work with, and there's no question too small or too strange.
And if you'd rather talk it through properly, you can always book a free consultation call with me. No pressure and no commitment — just a chance to ask whatever you need to before you decide.
